How to get a Babbel refund

Babbel's terms give buyers on babbel.com a 14-day right of withdrawal, which you can use online from your Account Information page; after that, cancelling only stops the next renewal. App Store and Google Play purchases are refunded by Apple or Google, not Babbel.

Checked October 2026 · Babbel price: From €8.99/mo on the 12-month plan (€107.88 a year; €215.88 at the monthly rate); lifetime €299.99; first lesson free (checked 2026-10-09 (babbel.com/prices, shown from Germany))

Within 14 days of buying on babbel.com

Babbel's general terms set out a right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving a reason. You can do it online: sign in, open Account Information, click Withdraw from contract here and confirm. You can also email support@babbel.com. Babbel says it refunds within 14 days of hearing from you, to the same payment method. If you started using the course during those 14 days, the terms allow Babbel to keep an amount in proportion to what you used.

After 14 days

Cancel auto-renewal so it does not charge again: on babbel.com, click the profile icon, then Profile and settings, Account Information, choose the subscription and click Cancel auto-renewal. Babbel's help centre says you can do this up to the day before renewal and keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel.

For customers in the United States, the terms ask for 48 hours' notice before renewal and say Babbel is not obliged to refund the rest of a term you cancel part way through. Cancel two days early to be safe.

If you paid on iPhone or Android

Babbel's terms say app store purchases follow the store's own rules. On iPhone, ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com: choose Request a refund and select the Babbel charge. On Android, Google Play says you may get a refund within 48 hours of purchase through Google Play; after that you contact the developer, Babbel, at support@babbel.com or the support chat in the app.

Why people ask, and what next

In the 1,435 Babbel reviews we read on the App Store and Google Play, 648 were one or two stars: 233 were about price, subscriptions or cancelling, and 114 said it felt too easy or they stopped making progress. Most people asking for a refund already paid for a year.

If Babbel felt too easy, another course app will feel the same. Real listening in Lingopie or LingQ, or a weekly tutor on italki, is the next step. If you want a cheaper course, Busuu has a free tier; see Babbel vs Busuu and Babbel vs Duolingo. Plans and prices: Babbel cost.
