Comprehensible input for Spanish

Comprehensible input for Spanish means hours of Spanish you can mostly understand, and the best places to find it are Dreaming Spanish for graded video, podcasts such as Hoy Hablamos and Españolistos, and slowed news from News in Slow Spanish.

How comprehensible input works

You understand the gist from context, pictures and what you already know, and the new words and structures sink in through repetition. No drills, no translation, lots of hours.

Dreaming Spanish built a whole method on it, with a seven-level roadmap counted in hours of input; its FAQ sets out the steps. Whatever the exact numbers, it takes hundreds of hours, which is why the material has to be enjoyable.

Comprehensible input by level

Beginner: graded video with visual support (Dreaming Spanish Superbeginner). Intermediate: podcasts made for learners (Hoy Hablamos, the Duolingo Spanish Podcast) and Spanish YouTube channels. Advanced: native podcasts, TV with Spanish subtitles on Lingopie, and the news.

How we rank

We rank apps by who they genuinely suit, what they cost, and how much they help with the skill learners neglect most: understanding real spoken Spanish. Every price and fact was checked on the product's own site or app store listing on the date shown; where a price is not published we say so and what is free. Nobody pays to be listed or ranked, and there are no affiliate links. More about this site.
